Watch World Awards 2011
Winners of the Watch World Awards 2011, now in its second
year, were felicitated in a glittering ceremony over the weekend held at Jaypee Greens Golf & Spa Resort on September 24. The event began with the recipients of marketing awards receiving the trophies, designed in the shape of an hour glass, with audio visuals being played on multiple screens around the stage. The hour-long event
concluded with the product awards, the biggest of them being, the highly anticipated Watch of the Year award.
Cocktails and hors d’oeuvre set the right mood for the award ceremony which saw some serious discussions on the intricacies of some splendid timepieces, some friendly banter with the Chief Guest of the evening, swashbuckling Indian
batsman Virender Sehwag, a classical jazz performance by Subir Malik of Parikrama fame, followed by dinner over lounge music. The night’s revelry continued over brunch and a round of golf on Sunday morning. The event was mostlyabout watches, with some of the choicest timepieces, including TAG Heuer Carrera, Baume & Mercier Capeland, Zenith El Primero, Romain Jerome Moon Dust DNA, Citizen Satellite Wave, Titan Aqua and other exquisite watches from
Harry Winston, Ulysse Nardin and Swarovski being put on
display at the venue. But it weren’t just the watches that
stole the show. Rare Dhokra artefacts and silk saris from
Chattisgarh caught the eye of the attendees, adding a touch
of ethnicity to the evening.
