Louboutin is synonymous around the world with red-soled stilettos

Considered the foremost shoe designer of the world, Christian Louboutin, whose instantly recognisable red-soled stilettos have become de rigueur on the red carpet and among Hollywood’s A-list crowd, knows that women’s most desired treasures are the ones they can wear. Says he, “A shoe has so much more to offer than just to walk. The shoe is very much an X-ray of social comportment.” Louboutin helped bring stilettos back into fashion in the 1990s and 2000s, designing dozens of styles with heel heights of 120mm (4.72 inches) and higher.

He found his calling, apprenticing in the dressing rooms of Paris’ famous cabaret the Folies Bergère. Louboutin counts Oprah, Sarah Jessica Parker, Cameron Diaz, Katie Holmes and hundreds of other Hollywood stars among his loyal clientele. His shoes are sold in 46 countries around the world. Christian Louboutin has 14 boutiques in cities such as New York, Los Angeles, Las Vegas and London, and has plans to open six more next year in places like Singapore, Jakarta and Beijing.
