British designer Stella McCartney, daughter of former
Beatles member, Sir Paul McCartney, studied fashion design at Central St. Martins College of Art and Design. Her graduation collection in 1995 was modelled by friends and supermodels – Naomi Campbell, Yasmin Le Bon and Kate Moss – for free. The collection was shown to a song, Stella May Day, penned by her famous father. The show made front-page news, and the entire collection was sold to Tokio, a London boutique. Her wearable-yet-wow clothing and fur and leather-free design philosophy have made it a firm fashion favourite. No woman's wardrobe is complete without one of her precision-cut tuxedo jackets or chaintrimmed totes. Stella is presently designing the Adidas sportswear for the British Olympic and Paralympic teams for the London 2012 Olympic Games and Paralympic Games. |
