darlin’ lanvin

Loved by editors and celebs alike for exquisitely made menswear and womenswear, Lanvin revels
in its glorious comeback

France’s oldest fashion house was almost forgotten until designer Alber Elbaz, a Moroccan born Israeli arrived on the scene in 2001. Elbaz's simple and feminine clothing - similar to the sporty, casual character of Lanvin’s 1920s outfits - has been lauded by the fashion press. Calling him a master of improvisation, Suzy Menkes wrote in the International Herald Tribune: “...Elbaz is every woman’s darling. And that includes Nicole [Kidman], Kate [Moss], Chloé Sevigny, Sofia Coppola and a slew of rising movie names.” Duchesse satin, cocktail-length frocks (often with one shoulder), dressed-up cigarette pants, and volume experimentation are signatures of the label. Lanvin is equally known for its handbags, jeans, shoes and fragrances. Lanvin’s packaging which includes an illustration of Lanvin and her daughter Marguerite, and new shoe boxes much like antique library files tied with black ribbons emphasises the precious nature of the product.
