Set in 2183, Mass Effect 2 has been developed
by BioWare and published by Electronic Arts. The game begins with Shepard patrolling outer space in his spaceship Normandy, when he is attacked. The ship is severely damaged and the crew have to bailout in escape pods. Shepard dies while attempting to save his crew and his body drifts to a nearby planet.

This planet is inhabited by an organisation called Cerberus, whose leader is the Illusive Man. Shepard is rejuvenated and upgraded and gets to meet the Illusive Man, who wants Shepard to help the humans. An unknown threat is fast destroying entire colonies of humans. A new spaceship,
Normandy SR2, is built and given to Shepard, who then sets out to build his team.

A number of side missions later, in which Shepard fights through an abandoned Reaper ship to recover an IFF transponder, rescuing his team from the clutches of the Collectors who have captured Normandy and so on, Shepard and his team manage to board Omega 4, the mothership of the Collectors. They have a face-to-face fight with the Collectors and various Geths, and ultimately defeat the enemy.

It seems the Collectors are taking the human gene and building a humanlike Reaper. There are many areas and worlds to explore and playing the game is a real pleasure. The characters have many more animations and motions and there
is a lot of variety. The creatures have good AI and do not just walk into gunfire. Each of the human or biotic character has his own story to play.

On a scale of 10, the game gets a 9 for game play, technical display and advanced features. It will cost about Rs 2,000 and is worth the buy.

La Zona
Rs 349
Director: Rodrigo Plá
Cast: Alan Chávez,
Daniel Tovar
Shemaroo

The delicate balance maintained between the residents of La Zona (a gated community) and
the people living in the slums that surround it is violated when 3 young slumdwellers attempt a
robbery. The vigilantes disapprove any interference by city cops and launch a manhunt for Miguel (Alan Chávez), who is the lone surviving intruder. In the basement of one of the houses, Miguel finds temporary refuge. It doesn’t take long for the son of the family, Alejandro (Daniel Tovar) to find him. However, Alejandro’s initial apprehension gradually
transforms to empathy for Miguel and he tries to assist him on his journey back home. As the movie progresses, the tension builds up and the audience is kept on tenterhooks. The finale packs a punch as the director unmasks the darker hues of human nature.

Baul ‘n’ Beyond
by Tanmoy Bose

Rs 299
Music Today

Right from his childhood days, Tanmoy Bose travelled extensively across the world. This helped him tremendously as he was exposed to both traditional and contemporary music. In Kolkata, he came across Bauls’ music. The Bohemian character, gypsy lifestyle and mystic appearance of the Bauls drew Tanmoy deeper inside their world. The core of the songs in his
album Baul ‘n’ Beyond fall into the genre of Deha Tatwa, which literally means the anatomy of the human body. The album sees the Bauls, namely Kartik, Lakshman and Krishna, perform at their best. What lends a magical touch to tracks like Impressions, Lalan’s blog.com, Baul Blues, Infinite Soul and the rest, is the use of several percussion instruments from all over the world.
